Based in Los Angeles Comedian and podcaster Tim Dillon attacked the government's handling of the bushfires on an episode of “The Tim Dillon Show” on Monday.

“Entire swaths of the city were gone. There was no water in the damn taps. Nobody cleared any of this brush, they didn't do any controlled burns, they didn't prepare any of these areas,” he says. Dillon, adding that these measures were ignored because “we didn't want to disturb a fish.”

President-elect Donald Trump He sparked a firestorm last week when he criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom for choosing to “protect a basically worthless fish” over the water needs of Californians. This was not the first time Trump has criticized Newsom on the issue, as he criticized Newsom in the lead-up to the 2024 election during an interview with Joe Rogan in October.

“I was on a ranch in California with some members of Congress,” Trump told Rogan. “We're driving down the highway and I said, 'Why is all this land so barren?' It's farmland and it looked terrible, it was brown and nasty, and I said, “But there's always this lovely little green corner.” They said: We do not have water. I said: Do you have a drought? “No, we don’t have a drought,” he recalls.

Trump continued: I said: Why don't you have water? Because the water is not allowed to flow down, and in order to protect small fish, the water is directed north to the Pacific Ocean.

The governor's press office said in response to Trump's accusations that he was completely wrong, saying that the president-elect “is conflating two completely unrelated matters: transporting water to Southern California and supply from local storage.”

“In general, there is no water shortage in the country Southern California For now, Newsom's office added, despite Trump's claims that he will turn on some imaginary spigot. Tanks were at higher altitudes, and constant fire hampered crews' ability to reach the pumps. To supplement this, they used water tenders to provide water – a common tactic in fighting wildland fires.

Dillon also expressed frustration with California's leadership, saying, “You go to bed thinking someone's in charge. Nobody's in charge. Nobody's in charge. That's the way it is.”

He added, “The only people who seem to have some sort of evidence are actively working against the public interest all the time in any way they can. The only people who seem to have any power in this society are the ones who are doing the best they can.” By the way, life is harder and more dangerous as time goes on, the only people who seem to have any power or control constantly do terrible things that you can't do anything about.

Later in the podcast, Dillon continued his criticism of the California government's preparedness, saying that “you can't have people running around psychotic things and setting things on fire,” and that “you can't have no preparedness.”

“We've let people run this city with crazy ideas that sound good to a 19-year-old on Twitter. We need to run this city with actual operators who can get things done,” he said.
