Lisandro Martinez's slopestyle effort helped Manchester United secure an unconvincing 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday evening as they clinched a Premier League title in 2025.
A dismal first half at Craven Cottage conjured little in the way of excitement, with a combined expected goals total of 0.42 from both sides. Fulham The brighter moments without the work of Andre Onana offered more often than not, but Alex Iwobi did not test the goalkeeper with a tame effort – the highlight of an incredibly low profile affair.
Things did not improve after the break as both teams continued to look disjointed and unconvincing in the final third. Bruno Fernandes' clever but ultimately free-kick drew several gasps from the crowd, but there was little to motivate any of the supporters for the first 75 minutes.
However, a massive slice of luck eventually broke the deadlock and made the traveling fans smile for the first time. He let Martinez fly from 25 yards and the defender's strike took a huge deflection from the unfortunate Sasa Lukic before it went into the top corner.
Fulham applied pressure in the closing stages as they sought an equaliser, Joachim Andersen came close to securing an equalizer – the near midfielder's header was cleared from the substitute's line by substitute Toby Collier.
Ama Diallo thought he had added some luster to the scoreline as he found the back of the net five minutes from stoppage time, but Var eventually ruled the Ivorian's effort offside. In the end, it didn't matter as United finished with an important win.
