Meryl Osmond confirmed on Thursday that his brother Wayne died after suffering a severe stroke on New Year's Day.
He added: “When I learned that my dear brother Wayne had suffered a massive stroke, my immediate reaction was to drop to my knees and pray for him for assurance that his mission was accomplished, and he was successful in this endeavor in so many ways.” he wrote on Facebook. “I immediately headed to the hospital in SLC to see him and was able to say goodbye to him.”
He continued: “My brother was a saint before he came into this world, and he will leave a greater saint than he came.” “I never knew a man who was more humble. A man who had absolutely no guile. An individual who was quick to forgive and had the ability to show unconditional love to everyone he ever met.”

“His passing from this earth will be a sad moment for some, but for those waiting for him on the other side, there will be a massive celebration beyond anything we could have imagined. My brother Wayne endured so much. He gave everything he could. His legacy will go down as someone who was not Not only was he a genius in his ability to write music, but he was able to capture the hearts of millions of people and bring them closer to God.”

He concluded by saying, “I will miss him very much. I am so grateful that I grew up with one of Heavenly Father's greatest children.”
Wayne's daughter Amy wrote that she has a hard time accepting her father's death, but is ultimately grateful for the time she has with him.

“I'm having a hard time expressing the depth of my sadness that I won't have my 'twin' in my life for a while,” she wrote on Facebook. “But I'm so grateful for the time I was able to spend with him. I'm grateful for the amazing memories. I'm grateful for his strength, his loyalty to our family, his incredible talent and energy, and most of all, his love.” I look forward to the day I can see him again on the other side. Love you, Dad.”
The Osmond family established a Wayne Osmond's Celebration of Life page on Facebook so fans can share memories, photos or a funny joke in memory of Wayne.
