A Louisiana Mayor He was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an alleged drug trafficking investigation conducted by authorities in his home state.
Bogalusa Mayor Teren Truong, 25, was arrested and charged with engaging in transactions involving proceeds Drug crimessoliciting prostitutes and unauthorized use of chattels, which refers to the intentional taking or use of personal property without their consent.
“We have zero tolerance for wrongdoing, especially from public officials,” Louisiana Attorney General Liz Morell said. “I am very proud of all of our law enforcement agencies who worked on this investigation.”
Louisiana State Police said the Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force began an investigation into a drug trafficking organization (DTO) operating in the Bogalusa area in April 2024.
The operation was conducted over several months in cooperation with the 22nd Judicial District Court Attorney's Office, Morrill's Office, and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
The investigation found that the ATF was involved in the distribution of opioids, high-grade marijuana, THC and MDMA products, among other controlled dangerous substances.
Investigators also learned that members of the organization used social media platforms to distribute drugs and manage payments, allowing them to expand their reach and criminal activity, police said.
Proceeds from drug sales were allegedly used to purchase firearms, some of which were distributed to individuals prohibited by law from possessing a firearm, and others linked to violent crimes in the Bogalusa area.

Law enforcement officials It obtained and executed multiple search and arrest warrants, resulting in the arrest of seven alleged members of the organization.
Police also arrested 24-year-old Mackenzie Lynn Cefalu. De Slim Wally Pittman, 24; Derol S. 22-year-old Bateman; Salah al-Din Malik Bateman, 26 years old; 51-year-old Tonya Renee phase; and 28-year-old Devan Michael Williams, all of Bogalusa.
As with Truong, the other six suspects were arrested for their involvement in transactions involving proceeds of drug crimes.
Additionally, Cefalu, Steig, Williams, D-Slim and Wally Pittman were charged with conspiracy to distribute a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance, with the latter also charged with distribution of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance.

All seven suspects were booked into the Washington Parish Jail.
State Police said several other matters and individuals remain under investigation in connection with the investigation.
“We will continue to invest time and resources to help the citizens of Bogalusa,” District Attorney Colin Sims said. “We're not finished.”

Truong's office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment on the matter.
At 23 years old, Truong will become Bogalusa's mayor in 2022, ousting the city's current mayor, Wendy O'Quinn-Perrette, who was elected to her first term in 2014.
