They say that our children are our future and I believe that. I have fought to dismantle violent gangs in my neighborhood South side of Chicago To free children from their grip. I have fought to make sure our children have enough to eat so that hunger does not consume their upbringing. I have fought to give our children a higher value in life beyond raw materialism: faith in God, respect for their parents, and belief in themselves.

However, I find that many of my efforts to guide these kids upward are constantly undermined by one force in our city: the Chicago Teachers Union.

We have known for a long time that too many of our schools in Chicago are failing their children, especially those who live in my neighborhood. We also spent a tremendous year exposing the corruption, incompetence, and shortcomings of DEI policies that have undermined education over the past several years.

The Chicago Teachers Union criticizes the newspaper that called them out for the chronic absence of their members

However, the union shows no sign of slowing its destructive trajectory that is leaving our children at the bottom of the barrel. According to Wirepoints, only 29 out of every 100 students in Chicago can Read at grade level. Only 18% of its students are proficient in mathematics.

These numbers are even worse for people who live in my neighborhood. Our schools continue to push these children from one grade to the next without demanding any form of educational excellence from them. They are letting these kids down.

Again, according to Wirepoints, 81% of these students graduate! How is this possible? Where is the morals here? Who benefits from this lie?

Lies beget more lies. Ninety-three percent of teachers in Chicago are rated as “excellent or proficient.” Seventy percent of its schools were rated as “exemplary” or “commendable.”

The biggest beneficiary of these lies is the Chicago Teachers Union. The harm they have inflicted on our most vulnerable populations will reverberate for years to come – and we are already seeing the impact today as groups of outlaw youth roam the streets looking for trouble.

Where is their moral conscience? The failure of schools is well documented, but the only thing union leaders care about is concentrating their power. They bear no form of accountability or responsibility for their aggressive power grab – their selfish power is their main interest, not the children's.

Chicago Public Schools Suffer from 'Chronic Absenteeism' by Teachers as Union Demands Pay Raise: Report

I recently came across A Quoted from Al-Ittihad On the What has led to better schools in my community is allyship, an alliance of students, teachers, staff and of course parents working together.

Remember, lies beget lies. What “school improvements” are they talking about? And what is this talk about the “militant Chicago Teachers Union” making “progress”?

Their struggle is actually corruption.

they Post pinned to X He says, “This is what solidarity looks like! From powerful speeches to unwavering energy, our rally demonstrated the power of educators and allies united for justice. We are building a brighter future for our students, schools and communities.”

“We need leadership in Chicago’s public schools who are determined to protect us from tyranny, Trump, and his forces,” the accompanying video reads. Last time I checked, Trump didn't undermine these kids' education, but let's go ahead and distract from the union's poor record by pointing the finger at the big bad orange guy.

Moreover, the Union continues to shift the blame Lack of funding – Another lie was born. More specifically, the union accuses the city of not properly funding all schools equally. But according to Wirepoints, we're spending more than ever per child: $29,160 in 2024, up from $20,979 in 2019.

Funding is not the problem. Union is. And I hate to say it, but so do teachers. They claim their hands are tied, but after years of hearing that, I have to put the harsh reality that we are failing our children to the fore — and that's all that matters to me.

The Chicago Federation of Teachers does not have the best interests of our youth in mind and we must realize this if we want a better America. Ultimately, the quality of today's youth determines the quality of the future.
