Brazilian surfer Bruno Lobo Not just an Olympic athlete, but also a true champion.
Lobo, 31, came to the aid of a drowning woman during a training session off the coast of Sao Luis, Brazil, on Friday, January 10. βThe day God used me as an instrument to save this young woman, all the honor and glory belongs to him.β βπ»ππ»,β Lobo wrote in a caption (translated from Portuguese) alongside footage he recorded of the incident. Lobo explained that he went to the ocean around 5:40 p.m. local time to “perform a final test” on his board's camera. He said: “It was a cloudy day, and the wind conditions were not the best, but I decided to test the support that had arrived. It was the first day using this material. I set the camera to record and headed towards the coast.”
He continued: βAfter sailing a few meters, I heard a cry for help and looked at the girl who was drowning. I quickly approached her with the kite, tried to calm her down, and asked her to climb on my back. βShe was very tired and lost strength.β
Lobo used his equipment to help return the woman to shore, where lifeguards assisted her. He concluded: βThank God that everything went well ππ»ππ».β βI am grateful for all the messages. I only did what I had to do and what was within my reach!β
In Lobo's footage, he quickly turned around when he noticed the woman in the water. He got off his kite surfboard and ordered her to hold on to his back as they rode to the beach. Lifeguards met the couple in shallow water and helped the woman to shore, where she thanked Lobo for the rescue with a hug.
