Tyreek Hill, wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, has indicated that he wants to leave the franchise after they failed to reach the NFL playoffs.

Hill did not play in the fourth quarter of the 32-20 defeat to the New York Jets on the final weekend of the regular season.

The 30-year-old missed the postseason for the first time in his career, telling reporters: “For me, I just have to do what's best for me and my family.

“If this is here or wherever it is. I'm about to open this door for myself… I'm out. It's been great playing here but at the end of the day, I've got to do what's best for me.” My career.

“I'm too competitive to be there.”

Hill still has two years left on the extension he originally signed in 2022.

The Georgia-born player had the worst season of his Dolphins tenure in 2024, finishing with 959 yards and six touchdowns.

Against the Jets, he scored just two goals, his third game this season with two or fewer goals.

Hill has endured a disappointing 2024 NFL season

This disappointing campaign stands in stark contrast to his first two seasons with the team, when he had at least 1,700 receiving yards and 119 catches in 2022 and 2023.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said after the Jets game that Hill's absence was not injury-related, adding that he did not want to discuss his player's comments until he spoke with him.

“It would be unfair of me to combine emotion with emotion,” McDaniel said.

“Right after the game when your season is over, when you're fighting to extend it and with the full belief that you have the ability to make it happen, I'm not going to make a hasty judgment on something that's a little cloudy. In the heat of the moment for multiple reasons.”
