North Carolina residents Curtis Wright and Amber Wright, who were severely affected by Hurricane Heleni, met with President Donald Trump during his visit to their state on Friday.
Curtis Wright argued on an appearance on “The Will Cain Show” that he believes North Carolinians were “ignored” in the wake of the hurricane and said Trump's visit was a “huge relief.”
“It's been a lot of relief. You know, people keep saying, how are you guys doing in Asheville? And you know, we feel like it (sic) has been forgotten. And I don't think we've been forgotten. I think we've been overlooked. You know, let us know they were coming “We were happy to see them.”

Trump visited western North Carolina on Friday to meet with residents still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helen.
Amber Wright was asked to describe how they were living in the aftermath of the hurricane and said it was an “absolute nightmare.”
“We're living day by day, one day at a time, trying to clean up, trying to figure out what our next steps are, if we're going to be able to rebuild, if we can't rebuild. It's been a struggle, so there's been a struggle.
Hurricane Helen struck in late September and made landfall in North Carolina 100 deaths In the state, as well as tens of millions in damage. The catastrophic flood was caused by the hurricane Described by FEMA Administrator Dean Criswell as “historic.”
FEMA has faced criticism for its post-hurricane relief efforts. During his visit on Friday, Trump said, “FEMA really let us down. They let the country down. And I don't know if this is Biden's fault or his, but we will take charge.”
Curtis and Wright said they lost “everything they owned” in the storm, including all of their farm equipment, and described what they would need in order to rebuild.

“What we need now is a fair assessment from our insurance company in time for payment,” Curtis-Wright said. “Samaritan's Purse has been a blessing to us, and they are willing to fill in all the holes that FEMA and our insurance company haven't done. We already have the ability to build on higher ground on another piece of property that connects to our existing farm. That's what our hopes are, to get payments Fair and just demolish the house we have because it is beyond 50% repair and then start over.”
While in North Carolina, Trump told reporters that he plans to sign an executive order that “fundamentally reforms and… FEMA repairOr maybe get rid of FEMA, Trump told reporters, “I think, frankly, FEMA is no good.”
He also promised that his administration would step up to help with cleanup efforts. “We're going to fix it, and we're going to fix it as quickly as we can,” Trump said.
