AC Milan moved quickly to appoint a successor to Paulo Fonseca with Sergio Conceicao taking over as coach of San Siro.
Fonseca was sacked this morning as expected after hinting his tenure was over following the 1-1 draw with Roma last night.
This result left Milan in eighth place in the Italian League table, 14 points behind leaders Atalanta and Napoli.

Fonseca coached Milan in 24 matches, winning 12 of them, the most notable of which was the 3-1 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The club chose to act on reports suggesting that Fonseca would receive a reduced salary if he was sacked within six months of his appointment.
Milan hopes that his Portuguese colleague Conceicao will perform better.
Italian League experience
The former midfielder has extensive experience in Serie A having played for Lazio, Parma and Inter. He resigned from his position as Porto coach last June after seven years in the position.
During his time at Estadio do Dragao, he led Porto to three Primeira Liga titles as well as four Taco de Portugal crowns.
A Milan statement read: “AC Milan announces that Sergio Paolo Marcenero da Conceição has been appointed coach of the men’s first team until June 30, 2026.”
“The club warmly welcomes Sergio and his staff and wishes them a journey full of success and fulfillment.”
