Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are not yet out of the Premier League title race, and they are looking to land a contemporary captain, Martin Odegaard.
Although Liverpool have a game in hand on Arsenal which, if won, would take the gap to seven points, it is not an insurmountable gap for the north Londoners to try and close.
That will certainly be Arteta's message as he looks for consistency in his squad in the second half of the 2024/25 season.
Mikel Arteta wants to sign the Neyban ambassador
Arsenal wants Ousmane Diomande To support their back line, while Alexander Isak remains a target for the Gunners.
It is not clear at this stage whether or not one or both will be signed in the current window, although one player who the north Londoners appear keen to land at the earliest opportunity is 18-year-old Saphir Nebban.
according to Telegraph (Subscription required) The Rosenborg midfielder who has been likened to compatriot and Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, and who shares an agent with Erling Haaland, is likely to be available for just £10m.
The striker's agent denies his transfer to Arsenal!
The outlet also details how agent Rafaela Pimenta described Nepan as “amazing” in a 2023 interview with Netafsen.
It's clear that big things are expected from the youngster, and to that end, a move to a bigger club is almost a foregone conclusion.
A contemporary Odegaard would be a £10m signing for Mikel Arteta
For £10m, that's hardly a penalty for Arsenal.
If he is close to what reports have described, the Gunners will get a deal and a player who, despite his age, has already played more than 50 games in the Norwegian Premier League.
With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, there is time to complete the deal this month.
Any delay until the summer could be fatal to Arsenal's chances of signing the player, with the Telegraph also reporting that Man City are reportedly eyeing him.
