West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has been discharged from hospital just over three weeks after a horrific car crash in Epping Forest, Essex.

Antonio was airlifted to hospital in London after crashing into a treebecoming trapped in the car. He underwent surgery for a broken leg the next day.

The 34-year-old Jamaican international, who will not play again this season due to his injuries, spent Christmas in hospital but is considered well enough to continue his recovery at home.

West Ham They have raised nearly £60,000 to donate to NHS and Air Ambulance charities in appreciation of the support Antonio has received by auctioning off the worn shirts and matching the amount.

A statement issued by the Hammers this week said: “Everyone at the club would like to reiterate their sincere thanks to the first responders, emergency services, air ambulance and NHS staff for the incredible support given to Michael following the incident.”

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen dedicated the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers two days after the incident to Antonio.

“It was special to see the West Ham family and the wider football community come together to support Mick,” the winger has since said.

“We are all grateful for the care the NHS and Air Ambulances UK have given Mic during a difficult time. I would like to thank everyone for helping us raise an incredible amount of money for two great causes.”
