The latest information that the 37-year-old Green Army has not displayed “behavior of concern” came after the FBI and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) revealed that Livelsberger likely suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.

At a news conference Friday afternoon, LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill spoke about Livelsberger's struggle with PTSD and his possible motives for the New Year's attack.
“Although this incident is more public and more sensational than usual, it ultimately appears to be a tragic suicide involving a highly decorated combat veteran who… He suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder “And other issues,” McMahill said.

“Quite frankly, that's why we created our health office here at Metro and take care of the heart, mind, body and spirit of the people who do this work, because they're exposed to things, they're seeing things, they're hearing things, they're feeling things, they're smelling things that most normal people don't have to,” McMahill said. “Do it.”

Police officials on Friday also released parts of Livelsberger's “statement.”

LVMPD Livelsberger died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren said. He indicated that the suspect put a gun in his mouth and shot him.

“We also know, as the sheriff mentioned yesterday, that the suspect shot himself,” Koren said. “The pathologist was very specific in saying it was a gunshot wound to the front of the body, which basically means the suspect put the firearm in his mouth and fired the gun. Ultimately, the wound came out of the left side of his head.”
