A new lawsuit in New York alleges Mariano Rivera and his wife, Clara, for ignoring the sexual abuse of a minor that occurred in their home and at church.
the New York Yankees Legend is the pastor of Hope Refuge Church in New Rochelle, about 15 miles from where he played.
However, Jane Doe says she was sexually assaulted by an older girl, known as MJ, during a summer internship in 2018. MJ was a minor at the time of the alleged incidents.

The training took place at Rivera Church's Ignite Life Center in Gainesville, Florida.
The lawsuit says the victim's mother informed Clara of the abuse and that Clara promised to investigate the matter. But they allegedly covered it up.
“Instead of taking adequate action to end Jane Doe’s sexual abuse, each of the Riveras separately isolated and intimidated Jane Doe into remaining silent about her abuse by MG to avoid causing problems for Refuge of Hope and the Ignite Life Summer Internship,” the lawsuit states. He reads.
The lawsuit also alleges that MJ abused the victim at Rivera's home that summer during a barbecue.
“At all relevant times, (the Riveras family) knew or should have known that MG posed a risk of child sexual abuse…before and during barbecue time,” the lawsuit states.
“In order to avoid the potential scandal of child sexual abuse in its programs and to protect (themselves) above all, the Riveras family (Doe's mother) assured that (Doe) was safe and not in danger at the Ignite Life Center, despite actual or constructive knowledge that Doe He remained vulnerable to additional acts of sexual assault by MG.”
Several months later, in January 2019, Rivera became the first, and only player, to be unanimously elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Later that year, President Donald TrumpDuring his first term, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Rivera, widely recognized as the greatest closer in the history of baseball, is the sport's all-time saves leader with 652. His 2.21 ERA is also the lowest of any pitcher with at least 500 innings pitched since the live ball era began in 1920.
