Manchester United are expected to target a new left-back next year, with Ruben Amorim identifying the position as one of the weakest positions in the squad.

Luke Shaw's fitness problems and Terell Malasia's struggles forced Manchester United coach to play Diogo Dalot in this position, which is not his natural position.

This has been an issue for the team's balance in Amorim's 3-4-3 formation and he is keen to bring a new left-back to Old Trafford soon.

One of the players Manchester United are targeting is Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes.

The Portuguese played for two years under Amorim at Sporting from 2020 to 2022 and the Manchester United manager knows him well.

according to RMC SportMendes wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain because his contract talks with the Ligue 1 side have stalled.

The player believes that he is not being offered the salary he deserves while being their starter.

The United star's agent opens the door to the possibility of a move away

Mendes has rejected all offers made by the club so far, and his current contract expires in 2026, meaning a decision must be made on his future next year.

According to the report, the Red Devils have already made a bid for the Paris Saint-Germain star but there is also an indication that the French giants are hoping to agree an extension with the left-back.

A move in the January transfer window is complicated at this stage, so any move to Old Trafford would have to wait until next year's summer transfer window.

Shaw and Malasia's future at Old Trafford is uncertain at the moment and they could be moved out of the club under Amorim.

The Premier League giants have a big decision to make over the futures of both Shaw and Malcia with the former mostly unavailable due to fitness issues while the latter has struggled to perform since returning from a long-term injury.

United president Amorim wants the club to tie down Harry Maguire to a new contract The manager also admires the defender.
