Luton Town have appointed Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield as their new boss, replacing Rob Edwards.

Edwards led the Hatters to the Premier League in 2023 but left his position last week after a poor season in the Championship.

Bloomfield, 40, led the Wanderers to second place in League One, losing only four league matches all season.

Luton are 20th in the Championship, just two points above the relegation zone. Bloomfield's first game will be at home to Preston on Saturday, and he has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Kenilworth Road.

“It is a real honor and a privilege to be here, to be appointed manager of this great club. I am really proud,” said Bloomfield.

“The feeling they gave me that I was wanted, the amount of research they did on me and the football team we created at Colchester and Wycombe, the knowledge base of what I stand for, who I am and what we are “I have tried to provide support to our football team, which has made me realize in uncertain times that “This was the right move at the right time.”

Wycombe said they were disappointed by Bloomfield's decision, but added that “the club is fully committed to building on the foundations of success for this season and implementing our long-term vision for Wycombe Wanderers.”

The League One side face Mansfield on Saturday.
