Liverpool have signed Scottish international Sam Kerr on loan from German club Bayern Munich for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The 25-year-old moves to Merseyside after having struggled to break into Alexander Strauss' Bayern side this season, having made just two appearances so far.
The midfielder would be a strong addition to Matt Bird's side, who have received criticism for their lackluster efforts in the summer transfer window ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season. Women's Super League (WSL) season. The Reds, who currently occupy eighth place in the league standings, are struggling to maintain the momentum of their fourth-place finish last season.
Kerr has made 30 appearances for Scotland on the international stage, and was crowned Player of the Year for the 2022 season. She was also voted in the PFA Scottish Team of the Year in both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns.
Kerr is no stranger to silverware, having won six league titles during her career so far. She won the Scottish Women's Premier League title with Glasgow City in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, before winning it again with Rangers in 2022.
“We made the decision with Sam that it was important for her continued development that she gets more playing time,” said Bianca Resch, Bayern Munich's women's football director. “In Liverpool we found a club that suits Sam perfectly in terms of culture and language.”
