Liverpool manager Arne Slott has held a series of talks with Darwin Nunez about improving his performance, while not ruling out the possibility of a move outside the club.
Caught out It is understood that Nunez has been told very clearly that he needs to be more consistent and contribute more to Liverpool's squad, and sources suggest the player has taken that on himself and pledged to put in the work required.
However, he also feels it Liverpool will now consider offers In the region of £50-60m to let the Uruguay international go, and there is some interest emerging.
A major dispute broke out in the Liverpool dressing room, and the players had to be separated!
It is not yet clear what clubs could be in for Nunes, despite rumors elsewhere, with no one yet making any sort of deal for the former Benfica striker.
However, the message seems very clear – Nunez must improve soon otherwise he won't be at Anfield For much longer.
Liverpool are running out of patience with Darwin Nunez
Few Liverpool fans will be surprised by this development, as Nunez has now had plenty of time at the club and has failed to make the most of it.
The 25-year-old arrived with a hefty price tag and huge expectations on his shoulders when he joined Liverpool in the summer of 2022, but has managed a very poor return as he has scored just 37 goals in 120 appearances in all competitions overall.
Nunez may still have a promising career ahead of him, but for one reason or another he doesn't seem to be a real fit for Liverpool, or perhaps the demands of the Premier League.
If Liverpool can get between £50-60m for Nunes, it would be considered a very good job, as it remains to be seen whether anyone will realistically pay that amount for such an underperforming player.
Slot has done a great job with the Reds, but we will have to see if he can also eventually work his magic on Nunez and improve soon, or if an exit now is inevitable.
