It's a tough time for Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City as both teams struggle to reach the playoffs in the revamped Champions League.

Paris Saint-Germain starts tonight in 26th place, one point and two places behind City, who are in last place and meaning their European adventure continues for another month.

This was not the situation these two big-spending clubs – both backed by Middle East money – had envisioned at the start of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain team news

The big news for the home side is the return of centre-back and captain Marquinhos from a thigh injury.

The Brazilian, who missed the weekend's win at Lens, comes in for Lucas Peraldo.

There were two more changes with Achraf Hakimi and Joao Neves replacing Lucas Hernandez and Warren Zaire Emery.

Paris Saint-Germain: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes, Ruiz, Neves, Vitinha, Ley, Do, Barcola.

Manchester City team news

Pep Guardiola made two changes to the side that won 6-0 at Ipswich on Sunday, one with Jeremy Doku missing due to injury.

Doku was impressive at Portman Road at the weekend, but suffered an injury that left him unable to travel to Paris. Savinho comes instead of the Belgian winger.

Elsewhere, Bernardo Silva is preferred in midfield over Ilkay Gundogan.

Matheus Nunes continues at right-back.

Manchester City: Ederson, Nunes, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Kovacic, De Bruyne (centre), Bernardo, Savinho, Foden, Haaland.
