Leicester City will seek to end their five-game losing streak in the Premier League on Wednesday evening when they host Crystal Palace.

After the bounce of a new manager following the arrival of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Leicester have gone back to writing over the past month. The Foxes have had some tough games against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United, but they rarely come together during disappointing defeats.

Saturday's 6-2 FA Cup third round win over QPR during a foggy afternoon at the King Power Stadium was essential, but Palace will pose a much tougher challenge than their fellow Londoners.

Oliver Glasner's side have regained their pride after a disappointing start to the season and now sit second, seven points behind Leicester, ahead of Wednesday's clash. They have lost just one of their last nine matches and came from two goals down to secure a valuable point when the two teams met in mid-September.

Leicester The team is still without some key players for Wednesday's match, with first choice goalkeeper Mads Hermansen being significantly absent. Ricardo Pereira is also unavailable at the back, but Jannik Vestergaard is expected to be involved in some capacity against Palace according to Van Nistelrooy.

Furthermore, Wilfred Ndidi is missing from the midfield and Abdul-Fatawo is unlikely to play again this season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in November. Odsonne Edouard is unlikely to feature regardless but is ineligible to face his parent club.

Leicester City expected lineup against Crystal Palace (4-2-3-1): Stolarczyk; Justin, Cody, Vestergaard, Christiansen; Somare, Winx; Bonanonot, Alkhnos, Mavididi; Vardy.

Will Hughes

castle He has been ill recently but Glasner has confirmed that those who missed the weekend's FA Cup win over Stockport County due to flu should all return. Among them was Jean-Philippe Mateta, who scored two goals in the reverse fixture.

The Austrian also revealed that Will Hughes will feature in the team again after being absent since last year's final. However, Adam Wharton will continue to watch from the sidelines as he recovers from a knee problem, with the start of February looming for his return.

Crystal Palace expected lineup against Leicester City (3-4-2-1):Henderson; Chalupa, Lacroix, Guayhi; Munoz, Hughes, Lerma, Mitchell; Sar, Iz; Tests.

Leicester must make the King Power their fortress during the second half of the season having already collected the bulk of their points at home this season. The visit to Palace is exactly the kind of match they must win – or at least not lose – if they are to avoid a return to the Championship.

Palace has re-emerged over the past two months, but is still struggling to achieve victories. They settled for a lot of draws, where scoring goals and creating chances were old issues. However, with Leicester's leaky defense – the second-worst in the division – having conceded two or more goals in their last seven games, the Eagles could pull off a hard-fought win in the Midlands.

Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Crystal Palace
