Former football coach and manager Joey Barton has never been easy to please.
He has been in the news for all the wrong reasons sometimes and most of the time for his controversial views.
The latest person to be affected by Barton is Leeds United midfielder Jack Harrison, who is currently on loan at Premier League club Everton.
Harrison struggled to make an impact at Goodison Park, looking very different from the player he was at Leeds United.
Barton praised former Leeds United coach Marcelo Bielsa for his great work at Elland Road and how the legendary manager was able to get the best out of players who were not great individually, according to Barton, but as a team clicked well.
“I thought Leeds, when they had Bielsa, were a little bit open to watch but you want to watch Leeds even though they struggled and Bielsa ended up losing his job.” Remembers the former Premier League midfielder.
“I remember the first part of them and they were a breath of fresh air, you know, the way they played. They took the game to everyone and they had some really good young players in the team like Kalvin Phillips.
“He (Phillips) really struggled at Ipswich. He struggled at Man City. But he became an England international at Leeds.
“Even Jack Harrison, he was terrible at Everton, but at Leeds he looked vulnerable. They had the boy Luke Ayling who played for Yeovil before he played for Leeds, and he was a nuisance. Patrick Bamford…
“They weren't those great players. But, as a team and as a unit, I thought they were a breath of fresh air when Bielsa got them back into the top flight.
Jack Harrison has failed to replicate his form at Leeds United
The 28-year-old is yet to register a goal or assist all season, and has recently lost his place in the starting line-up at Goodison Park.
The player is currently still on loan at Everton and given his style of play, the Toffees would certainly not consider making the move permanent.
Harrison appears to have lost his ability to score or create goals, something that used to happen on a regular basis at Leeds United.
