Leeds United are said to be intensifying their pursuit of Dario Esugu, the highly-rated defensive midfielder on loan to La Liga's Las Palmas from Sporting Lisbon.

The Whites are keen to secure the services of the 19-year-old, as they look to strengthen their squad to make a significant push in the Championship.

According to the football journalist Alan NixonLeeds are preparing a loan-to-buy bid for Essugo to stave off competition from Premier League giants Chelsea and other interested clubs.

This is not Leeds' first attempt to sign the Portuguese, as they had previously made a move for him in the summer, but Sporting chose to send him to Las Palmas for further development.

Isogo has been outstanding in La Liga this season, starting all 12 matches and scoring a goal. His consistent performances in Spain have increased his reputation as one of Portugal's most exciting young talents.

After joining Sporting's academy at the age of nine, Esugu made history by becoming the club's youngest player to make his debut at just sixteen years old. He later broke Luís Figo's record as Sporting's youngest starting player and holds the distinction of being the youngest Portuguese player to feature in the Champions League.

Under contract with Sporting until 2027, Isogo is highly regarded by his parent club, making any potential deal a major coup for Leeds.

If Leeds are successful in bringing Esugu to Elland Road, the youngster will add much-needed depth and quality to Daniel Farke's midfield.

Known for his composure, ball-winning ability and tactical intelligence, Essugo can provide a strong defensive presence while also supporting the team's transitional play.

Leeds currently sit second in the Championship table, well placed for automatic promotion but face stiff competition in the second half of the season. Strengthening the squad with Esugu's talent could be pivotal in maintaining the team's momentum and strengthening their bid to return to the Premier League.

FARC has already confessed That he will have money to spend in the January transfer window, if he needs it. They have been linked with several players, including Liverpool player Caoimhin Kelleher.

The next few weeks will reveal whether Leeds are able to edge out other top clubs and finalize a deal for the teenager.
