while Gilmore Girls Since it is a beloved show in the hearts of many, fans may not see a spin-off anytime soon.
In an interview with E! News, Scott Patterson, who played the eccentric and lovable Luke on Gilmore Girls, explained why he felt the spinoff wouldn't work.
“I brought this up to Peter Roth (Warner Bros.) one time and he was defending my spinoff project and he told me something steeped in the wisdom of television history,” Patterson explained. He said: “Scott, people are going to miss the other characters so much, because the show is full of such rich and wonderful characters.”
Patterson went on to say that he appreciated Roth's advice, noting, “And that was a smart thing to say because it worked for him.”
Lauren Grahamwho played Lorelai Gilmore on the hit show, then pitched the only spin-off idea she felt could work.
“You can play Lorelai's high school,” she said, noting that the plot goes back in time.
“We're talking about this as if it's like 'The Hobbit' or something, and I'm not sure it is,” Graham said. “But I think the way other universes have dealt with this question is to just go backwards or forwards.”
Graham continued to work out some of the expected problems in creating that spinoff, saying, “So you have the problem of casting a younger Babette and a younger Miss Patty, so I don't know.”
Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons between 2000 and 2007. It followed the heartwarming adventures of Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory (played by… Alexis Bledel), living in the idyllic city of Stars Hollow.

Graham explained in the interview that a creative push would be needed to make another chapter in the Gilmore Girls universe.
“I think at this point it's going to take the same thing that brought us back together last time, which is a creative step forward, and that it's going to give the fans what they want while honoring what we've done,” Graham said. actually.”
