George Kambosos Jr. will headline on March 22 against an opponent still to be determined in Sydney, Australia. This will be the first fight with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom boxing for former lightweight champion Kambosos Jr. (21-3, 10 KOS). Skye Nicholson will be on the card.

Hearn has not revealed his plans for Kambosos. He wanted to schedule a clash between Kambosos and former IBF lightweight champion Liam Barrow in Australia, but after Barrow's defeat of Richardson Hitchens last December, he scuppered his plans.

Kambosos needs a win

Hearn is promoting, too, but a fight between him and Kambosos wouldn't be much of a fight. It's not the best use of Kambosos feeding him stimuli and watching him get overpowered. Hearn will likely focus on getting a bigger fight for Kambosos Jr. Against someone like Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, or Ryan Garcia.

Kambosos has arguably lost every fight in the last four years since his upset win over Teofimo Lopez on November 27, 2021. He has one questionable win over Maxi Hughes on July 22, 2023. Many boxing fans saw that as a loss for Kambosos, as Hughes dominated the fight In its entirety.

“I think Hitchens is a good fighter,” George Kambosos Jr. said Tuck the ground When asked why he wanted to fight the IBF lightweight champion, Richardson Hitchens sternly said.

I think at 140 with what I can bring to the table with his basic style. It's very basic. He's good at the basics. He's got a good jab, left hand, good right hand, but at 14, I think I can beat him,” Kambosos continued on Hitchens.

“(Liam) Barrow did very well in the first two rounds but he walked away from it. I think Barrow has signed another potential fight with my name attached pretty well. I see things in that fight. I like New York. It's a good ground for me, and I like to be But obviously he's not the favorite. I'm the underdog.”

The fall of the emperor

Kambosos doesn't stand a chance against Hitchins or any other top 140 fighter. He's just one lucky wonder to beat tight end Teofimo Lopez. a little Kambosos's career as “Emperor” was sinking since then

Hitchins needs Kambosos for a payday and to get more attention in his career. However, in terms of opposition, Kambosos is a huge step back for Richardson. He's not in the same league as Hitchens' recent fights against Liam Barrow, Gustavo Lemos, Jose Zepeda or John Bouza.

“I think I'm another Loudmouth New Yorker. I feel like it all comes together. I'm back with The Match Room. I'm back with Eddie Hearn. I love The Match Room. I love the way and vision of Eddie Hearn. I feel comfortable. I've been with Lou since 2016. I love Lou … I feel like there is a good direction and path to becoming a champion again. “I see it,” Kambosos said.
