Anthony Joshua says his focus is on getting a fight against Tyson Fury in 2025. Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) wants a huge fight against former WBC heavyweight champion Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) soon.
The temptation to get angry again
Fury, 36, has been in hiding since his unified champion Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 in Riyadh, and is no doubt wondering what went wrong this time to suffer defeat for a second time. It seemed like he didn't have it anymore.
His performance, or lack thereof, showed why it was so important to make the 'Battle of Britain' fight against Joshua as quickly as possible. Some believe Fury might announce his retirement, and they are continuing to do so R watch.waiting for a tearful letter from him.
Joshua needs to put more pressure on Fury to encourage and motivate him to stay because he might do something rash. He retired once only to return.
“In 2025, I am targeting Tyson Fury.” Anthony Joshua told… Sky Sports News.
He needs some encouragement from Joshua and the others now to make him believe he did a better job than he actually did.
AJ has more reasons to retire than Fury because he was blasted by IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in his fifth-round knockout loss on September 21 in front of over 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London. It was a complete mismatch, as Joshua was dropped four times.
Joshua had never been sent off like this before. You can see that Dubois was very strong, young, and beyond his talent. However, it would be the same if Dubois fought Fury. It might be easier because his resistance to punches is gone, and he won't have anything to stop Dubois for a moment.
“It makes me hungry, it makes me want to work harder. Time is of the essence. Time is limited, so I just want to put in more work,” Joshua said of his loss to Daniel Dubois on September 21.
He added: “When I look back, I think I could have done more in 2024. I have another opportunity in 2025 to do more, and I will make sure I grab every opportunity that comes my way. “I should have won, but I didn’t,” Joshua said. “I will go again.”
Joshua should permanently forget about Dubois and focus fully on fighting Fury twice before calling it a day. Going back to live with Daniel would be a bad idea.
