India National Cricket Team Jasprit Bumrah has achieved a tremendous feat in the history of Indian cricket. He became the first bowler from his country to cross 904 rating points in the ICC Rankings for bowlers in the longest format of the game.
Jasprit Bumrah surpassed Ravichandran Ashwin's tally of 904 ranking points, achieved by the off-spinner in December 2016, and became the highest-ranked Indian player ever in the history of the ICC Rankings. However, he has now been overtaken by the Prime Minister.

Jasprit Bumrah achieved the feat after his stunning effort with the ball during the recently concluded fourth Test against the Australia national cricket team. The match between the two teams was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne and saw the home team win by 184 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah was at his best with the ball in the match. Although the fast bowler went for some runs in the first innings, he made sure that he picked up wickets and ended up taking a four-wicket haul and helping his team get wickets in the crucial phase of the match.
Jasprit Bumrah gave his best with the ball in the second innings as he picked up another five-wicket haul, adding to his wicket tally in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The fast bowler has taken 30 wickets in the series, and with one match left to play, he is expected to take more wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah's 907 rating points in Tests is 17th on the all-time list – with England's Derek Underwood. Based on his impressive effort with the ball in the 2024 Tests, the fast bowler has been nominated for the ICC Cricketer of the Year and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year awards.
Pat Cummins becomes the No. 3 player in Test cricket and the No. 3 all-rounder
Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, Australian national cricket team captain Pat Cummins jumped 15 ranking points after taking 6 wickets in the Boxing Day Test. He is now the No. 3 player in Test cricket and has also been raised to No. 3 in the overall Test rankings.
Marco Janssen has moved up six places to sit in fifth place in the bowling rankings. He picked a wicket in the Test against Pakistan, and it was the first time in his career that he crossed 800 rating points.
In terms of ICC Test rankings of batsmen, Aiden Markram after taking 89 in the first Test against Pakistan has returned to the list of top 20 batsmen in the world. While India National Cricket Team batted Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 84 runs in two innings each, also made gains.

Yashasvi Jaiswal jumped one stop and achieved the best ranking of his career to fourth place. Steve Smith, who criticized the Toon, rose three places to seventh, and Saud Shakeel (three places to a career-best sixth) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (20 places to 53) also made gains in the Test batting rankings.
Afghanistan's Rahmat Shah (up 21 places to 52) and Hashmatullah Shahidi (up 25 places to equal 57), who surpassed the highest ever Test scores for Afghanistan with their double hundreds, also made gains after their impressive effort with the bat in the series against Zimbabwe.
