Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu On Thursday, Hamas was accused of reneging on the ceasefire agreement to release the hostages and stop the fighting that has been going on for more than a year.
Netanyahu's office said on Thursday that his government would not meet to approve a ceasefire agreement in Gaza until Hamas backed down from what it called a “last-minute crisis.”
Netanyahu's office accused Hamas, without going into details, of trying to renege on part of the agreement in an attempt to “extort concessions at the last minute.”
The Israeli Cabinet is scheduled to ratify the agreement on Thursday.
President Biden joined Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a press conference on Wednesday to announce that the deal would be implemented in three phases.
Biden said that the first phase will last six weeks and “includes a complete and complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas in Gaza, and the release of a number of hostages held by Hamas, including women, the elderly, and the elderly.” “I am proud to say that the Americans will be part of the hostage release and the first phase as well, and the Vice President and I cannot wait to welcome them back to their homeland.”
Biden said that in return, Israel released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, and the Palestinians “can also return to their neighborhoods in all areas of Gaza, and humanitarian aid to Gaza will begin to increase.”
