Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna said his side are “not too far behind” after their first home win in the Premier League this season, moving them up to 18th in the table.
A Liam Delap penalty and a low shot from Omari Hutchinson beat Chelsea and will give the Tractor Boys the faith until 2025.
They are just one point behind Wolves and two behind Everton.
McKenna said: “It was everything it needed to be, I think we came out really fast, really aggressive and tried to impose ourselves on the game. “I thought Liam (Delap) was amazing tonight. It was one of many great performances tonight.

“There was hope in the performances overall, we were competing in almost every game. If you do that, you always have a chance. We are only a few points short of what we could have had.
“Getting three points tonight is always welcome of course. We are in the games and we are not too far away.”
“We need to move forward”
Delap has been a thorn in Chelsea's side throughout, scoring and creating another in the Premier League for the second time this season and scoring Town's first top-flight penalty since November 2001.
He told Sky Sports: “We've worked hard this season and things haven't gone well. The performance deserved the win and today we showed we were excellent, defended well and attacked them well. We're buzzing.”
“We had three or four chances where we didn't get the penalty we probably deserved, so it was good to get that chance and put it in the net. I've practiced it a million times so I went for the corner and put it there.
“I don't think it changes much. We performed well in other games this season but we didn't get the result. We didn't finish our chances or concede a late goal. We just need to move on and get more wins.”
