Chelsea strikers Sam Kerr and Mia Fishel will travel to Portugal to take part in their club's summer training camp to continue their recovery from injury.
Australian international Kerr has not been named ChelseaSquad since January 2024, when she suffered an ACL injury. Last month, coach Sonia Bombastor said she expected that The 31-year-old will return in February or March.
USA striker Fishel has yet to play for the west London side since suffering the same injury in February 2024. Although both players will not be training with the rest of the squad and will instead continue their recovery period, their addition is a very promising step. A step in the right direction.
The Blues currently lead the Women's Super League (WSL) after collecting 28 points during the first half of the 2024/25 season, remaining six points clear of Manchester City.
They also repeated their perfect start to the Women's Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals and maintaining their winning streak.
The team will now spend next week training in Portugal ahead of their first match of 2025, which will see them host Charlton Athletic in the fourth round of the Women's FA Cup at Kingsmeadow Stadium on January 12. They will then later return to WSL action on January 19, with a visit to West Ham United who are third from bottom.
