England vs Australia is the biggest rivalry. The greatest series is Australia vs India – Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan shared his opinion on the same, saying that although Ashes is the greatest rivalry, India vs Australia is the greatest series currently. Speaking about the reasons for his choice, he said:

“No, England versus Australia is the greatest rivalry. The greatest series at the moment is Australia versus India. The Ashes rivalry goes back 150 years.” You know, this latest modern rivalry is the best series, you know, in the last 20 odd years actually. You can say that the India-Australia match was the best series to watch, both at home and abroad. “I think the most controversial is, I'm not quite sure what's going to happen,” Michael Vaughan said.

“But in terms of the rivalry, certainly the Ashes is still the biggest rivalry. For 50 or 60 years, that rivalry has been going on. The problem with the Ashes is that my team hasn't been able to get down and compete. We compete hard at home and that's what makes the competition great. The last two series in the UK have been massive, even for any type of series.

“But the problem was that the English team got on the plane and on that 24-hour flight, it was a problem, and we couldn't compete. So, as far as the competition was concerned, the competition was neither close nor far awaysaid Michael Vaughan at the club Prairie Fire Podcast.

Michael Vaughan also spoke about the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He said that after India won the first Test in Perth, I was stunned. He stressed that the Rohit Sharma-led team fought hard but were unable to fight back. Michael Vaughan added:

“While the competition between India and Australia was very, very good, both at home and away. So it's the best competition in the world, but it's not the biggest competition. But let's be honest, India won the first match in Perth and played great,” he said. Since then, they have been on a roll, they lost in Brisbane, and the series was now over.

“You have to say that this series, as much as it was great cricket, a lot of it, especially the last three matches, were very one-sided. Australia managed to get the upper hand and play some great cricket, and India couldn't find a way to fight back.” “They countered with a shoulder barge, but they couldn't return the punch,” concluded Michael Vaughan.
