Cristiano Ronaldo recently celebrated two years of his achievement with Al-Nasr in the Saudi Professional League, but he celebrated it by expressing his desire to obtain more titles.

The Portuguese star, who was named Middle East Player of the Year for 2024 at the Globe Soccer Awards, has maintained an impressive goalscoring record with 74 goals in 83 matches since joining the club on a free transfer in January 2023.

Reflecting on his trip in Riyadh, Ronaldo, who turns 40 on February 5, shared his thoughts with the league's official media channel.

He said: I am happy and my family is happy. We have started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good.

“Individually and collectively, we are still there; “We're still getting better.”

Having scored more than 900 goals in his career and holds the men's world record for most international goals, Ronaldo also highlighted the progress the Saudi Professional League has made since his arrival.

“For me, it is a great honor that the league is growing and that many star players are coming to make the league better and more competitive,” Ronaldo said.

“To be the first person – let's say a star – to come here is a huge honour, but what I am looking forward to is for the league to continue to improve over the next five to 10 years. Not just the first teams, but also the academies.

He added: “Not only for the future of the Saudi (players) and the league, but for the sake of the country and competition with other leagues. This is my dream. This is what I will try to help the country and the league reach and exist at this level.

“People look to Cristiano as an example, not only on the pitch, but also off it.”

Since joining Al Nassr, Ronaldo has helped the team win the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.

Although the club failed to achieve more titles last season, it made history by scoring a record 35 goals in its first full season in the Saudi Professional League.

Reflecting on his achievements, Ronaldo added: “You know, when you win titles, things get easier, and it was an honor to win in my first year here, my first amazing title.

“But I want more. I will continue to push and help my team, Al-Nassr, to win titles. I think this year will be a good year for Al-Nassr.

“It is difficult to compete with teams like Al Hilal and Al Ittihad, but we are still there, we are still pressing and fighting. Football is like this; it has good moments and bad moments, but for me, the most important thing is to be professional, to press hard, respect the club, respect your contract and believe.” That things will change – for Al-Nasr to try to win more titles.

He added: “The AFC Champions League is something I want to win for the club, but the most important thing is to continue pressing and being professional.”
