Hoops fans have raised concerns about Flory Kuminga's brother NBA player Jonathan KumingaWhich indicates that he may be quite advanced for his current high school class. As one of the top prospects in the Class of 2028, many believe Fleury is highly qualified to be an eighth-grader.
In response to the highlight video Flory Kuminga posted on the Ballislife Instagram page, some fans questioned his decision to rebrand:
“how old is he?”
“He's 13 years old?”
“Eighth grade?? Yeah right…this reclassification stuff is getting out of hand!”
“Is he in eighth grade again?”
“How would he be in the eighth grade if he had played arts which is a high school in Newark, New Jersey?”
“LOL 40 years of 8th graders now.”
“Double reclassification. Plus he will play 2 years at Junior College after HS and will be 24,25,26,27 in D1 hoops😂”
“At first glance, I thought it was Cam Whitmore. The kid is a beast but definitely 15-16 years old versus a 14 year old in 8th grade 🤷🏾♂️😫🤣”
Flory Kuminga hopes to follow in the footsteps of his brother Jonathan Kuminga
Despite the chatter among fans, Flory Kuminga seems to have a special talent. The 6-foot-6 forward played a pivotal role in North Charlotte's win over Lake Norman Christian last Saturday.
Kuminga contributed 12 points on 43% shooting from the field, helping North Charlotte to a 53-48 victory. brother Golden State Warriors Standout Jonathan Kuminga is off to a good start in his high school career.
Fleury averaged 15.6 points, 0.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game over 14 games in the 2023-24 season. He aspires to follow in the footsteps of his brother, who was a five-star player and the No. 1 small forward in the class of 2021.
In high school, Jonathan averaged 25 points, five rebounds and five assists per game, and was named Most Valuable Player at the Slam Dunk to the Beach show in January 2019. He scored 40 points, a record for a single game at the event , a loss to Gonzaga College High School.
As a junior, Jonathan averaged 16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the seventh pick in 2021.
