The drink is made with “green tea with soothing herbal notes of chamomile and hints of mint and fruit flavour, served with steamed lemon juice and a touch of honey.” For tea “This relaxes from the inside out,” notes the Starbucks website.

However, there is a lot of sweetness. Starbucks' website says there are 30 grams of sugar in a “large” size.

A registered dietitian has shared how she makes her own version of the drink – with her own twist.

“This is one of my favorite recipes to help fight winter colds and soothe sore throats, thanks to the combination of honey, green tea sprigs and Peppermint teaTeapigs is a brand of teas,” registered dietitian and nutritionist Kelsey Connick told Fox News Digital.

Connick, who is based in Michigan, writes for Greecily Nourished.

She said green tea is “full of natural antioxidants to support a healthy immune system” — and adding peppermint tea can help soothe sinuses.

She added, “Honey acts as a natural cough suppressant and soothes the throat.”

By making the drink at home, you have greater control over the ingredients In this recipe“More than you would order from a store,” Connick said.

One way to significantly “reduce” the amount of sugar in drinks is to “use a Light lemon juice Or squeeze lemon into hot water instead of lemon juice.”

ingredients

6 oz lemon juice

6 oz water

1 tablespoon honey

1 cup green tea with peaches (Konnick likes the Teapigs brand)

1 cup mint tea (optional) (Kunik also likes Teapigs brand for this)

Directions

Add lemon juice to a large cup and microwave for 30 to 60 seconds until heated through.

Add 6 ounces of hot (not boiling) water to a cup and steep 1 teaspoon of green tea with peaches for 5 minutes.

After 3 minutes, add 1 small mint tea bag and let steep for the last 2 minutes.

Add a tablespoon of honey (or more if you like it sweeter) and enjoy.
