today's Hoda Kotb She has become vocal about dealing with social situations when people think she is her daughters' grandmother.
The conversation began during the Tuesday, December 17, episode of the show Today with Hoda and Jenna when Kotb, 60, read one of the viewers' questions on air.
“I Older mother. When I meet someone I'll likely never see again and they call me grandma instead of mom, should I correct them?” Kotb read. “I've corrected people before, and they've often been embarrassed and apologetic. Should I continue?”
Qutb quickly gave her opinion. “Yes, you should,” she said. “It's happened to me before.”
Pole host Jenna Bush Hager She seemed shocked at the admission. “Did someone call you grandma?” Bush asked Hager, 43, to which the Kotb replied, “Yes. Someone said, 'Oh, are you their grandmother?' I said: No, I am their mother.
The mogul seemed unfazed by the remark, while Bush-Hager's jaw dropped. “It's not mine,” she added. “I can get to where, if it happened non-stop all the time, I think it would probably be annoying.”
Kotb explained that the reason people correct her is because of her children. “More than me, because I didn’t care, this is what your kids see and think,” Kotb said. “I think for your kids' sake, you have to say, 'Oh, no, actually.' But also, don't take offense. As I tell my kids, some moms are older, some moms are younger, some are taller, some are shorter.
“Some moms are tired,” Bush Hager interrupted, while Kotb said, “Some moms are exhausted.” Bush Hager added, “Some moms want to crawl into the pantry and grab a piece of cheese.” Some moms like to hide in the bathtub and close the door and hope they won't hear the sounds…just kidding. “Most mothers love their children.”
We all do it, Kotb explained, before adding: “Sometimes some mothers want to sit in the minibus and just say they're about to go somewhere, and then they don't go anywhere. Just sit in it.”
When Bush Hager asked if she had cried in the minivan, Kotb replied: “Oh, yeah. It's like another house. You just go outside.” After Kotb laughed at her remark, Bush-Hager responded, saying, “When you start sleeping in the minivan, we're going to have a problem.”
Kotb became a mother when she adopted daughter Halle in 2017 and daughter Hope in 2019, with her then-partner, Joel Schiffman. Kotb and Schiffman got engaged after six years of dating in 2019 before getting engaged in 2022. They parted ways. For her part, Bush Hager gave birth to her daughters, Mila, 11, and Poppy, 9, and a son, Hal, 5. With the husband Henry Hager.
