Most Americans view the beginning of the new year as a fresh start, an opportunity to set goals to improve themselves over the next twelve months – and members of Congress are no exception.

Like millions of people across the United States, Lawmakers are Set their own New Year's resolutions, ranging from the professional to the very personal.

House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, who will step down from the committee's top position after his term was limited, said his decision was aimed at using his new role as chairman emeritus “to be a strong voice on foreign policy and foreign policy.” National security issues.

On an individual level, McCall told Fox News Digital that he also set a New Year's resolution “to exercise daily and spend my time on the more important things in life, like family. And make time to smell the roses.”

Rep. Ana Paulina Luna, Republican of Florida, said her New Year's resolution includes eating cleaner.

“My New Year's resolution is not to eat anything that contains seed oils. It would be almost impossible because they stick them on everything,” she said.

Meanwhile, Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, shared a broader goal of unity in 2025 with fellow House Republicans — after the 118th Congress was marked by historic levels of Disagreement and fighting.

“I've always said the Republican Convention is a big family,” Fallon said. “We may be dysfunctional at times, but we're still family, and my New Year's resolution is that we can all sing from the same note enough times to make a difference for the American people.”

“My New Year’s resolution is to help,” said House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris, R-Md Make America healthy again “By directing our food policy toward promoting healthy food choices, starting with changes to the food stamp program (SNAP).”

From the Senate side, lawmakers exchanged resolutions to advance the Republican Party's agenda.

“With a new year, a new Congress, and a new president, I know we can get America back on track and usher in a new golden age. My resolutions for 2025 are to help secure our southern border to make our families and communities safer; back to Alabama, told Fox News Digital: “A regular order to cut wasteful spending, ensure Congress is a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars, and pass pro-family tax reform that grows opportunity and prosperity across our country.”

“My New Year’s resolution is to become less tolerant of climate alarms and hasten the demise of the managerial state,” Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee said. The Republican will chair the Energy Committee in the new Congress.

Senator Steve Daines, R-Mont., revealed that his decision is to “confirm all of Trump's nominees and secure our borders.”
