Liverpool recorded a vital 2-0 win over Brentford away in the Premier League earlier today.

The Reds struggled for most of the match, despite having many opportunities to score goals. Super sub Darwin Nunez scored twice in stoppage time to collect the three important points for his team.

However, Harvey Elliott made a crucial contribution in the final third as well after coming on. The talented young midfielder has had very limited opportunities this season and it appears he has yet to gain the trust of Arne Slott. He has not yet started any league matches this season.

His performance today showed that he is an exceptional talent with a bright future. Journalist James Pearce has now claimed Liverpool will need to give him more chances in the coming weeks.

He wrote on X: “Darwin Nunez will make the headlines and rightly so, but Harvey Elliott also had a massive impact off the bench. He played a big role in both goals. Elliott has not played well so far this season. He deserves more chances.”

Harvey Elliott could be useful for Liverpool

The Reds have struggled to open up deep defenses at times this season, and Elliott certainly has the vision and passing ability to open up low blocks. The midfielder played a key role in both goals and will be pleased with his performance today. It remains to be seen whether he can build on it and hold down a regular starting spot in the coming months.

Elliott was an important player in the team under former coach Jurgen Klopp. He is highly regarded at the club and has a great future ahead of him. Regular football will help him improve further and realize his huge potential. His versatility could make him an asset for Slot and Liverpool in the future. He is able to penetrate wide areas as well as in an attacking midfield role.
