Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier has come under heavy criticism for his performance against Hull City last weekend.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper was at fault for two goals in the 3-3 draw against the Tigers, and The Frenchman is clearly struggling in terms of form and confidence at the moment.
BBC critic Paul Robinson has now claimed that Meslier suffers from a lack of confidence and this has affected his performances. Furthermore, he added that the goalkeeper is overly reliant on his rhythm. He tends to play well when he's full of confidence, but he can be prone to making bad decisions when things don't go his way.
“I think a change from Meslier was inevitable. He has all the tools in the bag, but he is a confident goalkeeper,” Robinson said. BBC Radio 5 (January 11, 5:51 p.m.).
“When he plays well, he makes good decisions, makes good tackles, and it goes without saying that he plays very well every week.”

Meslier needs a break
Meanwhile, the popular pundit also reflected on Leeds United defender Joe Rodon's knee-jerk reaction to a howler from Meslier against Hull City. Robinson added that the French goalkeeper is in the line of fire and is under tremendous pressure from his teammates as well.
“He needs a bit of rest,” said the BBC critic Illan Meslier. “He is in the line of fire, under a lot of pressure.”
“I saw Joe Rodon's reaction to him when he conceded the goal against Hull, and there was probably a bit of unrest from his team-mates too.
It will be interesting to see if he can bounce back in the coming weeks and establish himself as a starter again. His mistake against Hull City led to him being dropped by the Whites against Sheffield Wednesday.
There is no doubt that he is a good goalkeeper with a bright future, and it remains to be seen if he will be able to redeem himself in the coming weeks.
