Tottenham Hotspur have been advised to consider an immediate move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to address their ongoing goalkeeping issues.

With Guglielmo Vicario absent from the field since last November due to ankle surgery, Tottenham relied on veteran Fraser Forster, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

The north London club recently made their first signing for 2025, bringing in 21-year-old Antonin Kinski from Slavia Prague. He made an impressive debut in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final against Liverpool, producing an impressive performance in Tottenham's 1-0 win.

Tottenham demands to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Kevin Kelleher

Despite Kinski's signing, Tottenham insider and Lillywhite Rose owner John Wenham has urged Spurs to act quickly and sign Kelleher this month rather than wait until the summer.

Wenham stressed the urgent need to secure a proven goalkeeper like Kelleher this month rather than waiting until the summer:

talking to Tottenham newsWenham said:

“If there is a plan to have a real replacement for Vicario in the summer, those plans should go ahead.

“The club has the money to do it now. So, I don't understand why they didn't do it. Those in control should realize the importance of the situation we are in and spend some money.

“For example, it looks as though Kelleher could be available this summer, with Giorgi Mamardashvili arriving at the club and Alisson likely to stay. So, go and sign him now, and pay the money.

Kelleher has gained a reputation for his calm under pressure and his reliability in goal. Since joining Liverpool's academy in 2015, the Ireland international has produced outstanding performances despite serving as Alisson Becker's understudy.

He played a pivotal role in Liverpool's 2022 UEFA Cup win, scoring the winning penalty in the shootout against Chelsea, becoming a fan favorite at Anfield.

This season, Kelleher has stepped up again during Alisson Becker's absence and put in an impressive performance, making some fantastic saves including a penalty kick from Mbappe during Liverpool's 2-0 win over Madrid.

Kelleher himself was keen to move away from Liverpool in search of regular first-team football. In fact, Nottingham Forest tried to sign him in the summer but the Reds rejected the offer.

While he remains keen to let Kelleher convince him to move to Tottenham could prove difficult. Given Vicario's presence, the Irishman may not join Tottenham unless he is promised a start ahead of the Italian.
