FOX Sports provided televisions to first responders so they could watch the NFL playoffs during breaks as they battled the devastating defeat. Los Angeles wildfires.

FOX Sports' NFL reporter Jay Glazer, who was at the Palisades Incident Command Post in Malibu, explained to Fox News how the partnership came about before the Washington Commanders-Detroit Lions playoff game on FOX.

“My wife and I actually live about 200 yards away. We were evacuated. But this week, like many others from California, we were coming to bring protein bars, whatever we could do, just to try to lift spirits. Two nights ago, some Firefighter: “You know what we really want? We really want to watch football.’ I said, ‘I know someone who can make that happen.’”

“I called our boss at FOX Sports, CEO Eric Shanks, and he said, 'What a great idea!' And he succeeded in doing that and within a day, we came here yesterday and we did it in a day, putting TVs in the area where these people were returning to their shifts, and there were 24 of them. They work hour shifts and come back and have a place to decompress, eat, and where the TVs are.

“We're not just showing our game on FOX, we're showing all the games this weekend. It's just our way of saying thank you to a lot of these people who, you know, left their homes to try to save it. For us.”

He said during the NFL pregame show on FOX Sports that Chiefs coach Dan Quinn and Lions head coach Dan Campbell confronted the firefighters before the playoff game on FOX.

Glazer said the coaches are “fascinated by our heroes.”

“For us to be able to step in and give them some normalcy, and boost their morale, that's what they need,” he added. “I hear stories from these people, you know, the first two days for 48 straight hours and the things they saw, anything we can do, just to say we love you and thank you, we're in.”
