A Palestinian television channel said that five of its journalists were killed in an Israeli raid on the central Gaza Strip.
They were in Quds Al-Youm's car parked outside Al-Awda Hospital, where the wife of a journalist was about to give birth, in the Nuseirat camp among the refugees.
The channel published a video clip of what it said was the burned car with a “press” sign on its back doors.
The Israeli Air Force said that it attacked “in a specific manner and under intelligence guidance” a vehicle containing activists from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement. She added that the necessary measures had been taken to reduce civilian casualties.
The BBC was unable to verify the allegations from both sides.
Al-Quds Today is affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group that participated in the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The unprecedented attack sparked the outbreak of war in Gaza.
In a separate development, five people were killed in Israeli raids on Gaza City on Wednesday.
The Palestinian Wafa news agency and the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza said another 20 people were injured in the city's Zaytoun neighborhood.
The Israeli army did not comment on the alleged bombing.
Also on Wednesday, Hamas and Israel traded accusations of responsibility for the delay in the latest attempt to reach a ceasefire.
Hamas accused the Israeli government of imposing “new conditions” that it said would delay the agreement.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the movement is backing away from the understandings already reached regarding a possible ceasefire.
The latest statements represent a noticeable change in tone on both sides.
Netanyahu's office said on Tuesday that Israeli representatives had returned from Qatar, which is mediating, after “important negotiations” – and Palestinian negotiators previously told the BBC that the talks were 90% complete except for some issues.
The Israeli army launched air strikes and a ground attack on the Gaza Strip in response to a Hamas attack last year. The attack killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were taken to Gaza as hostages.
The Gaza Ministry of Health says that more than 45,000 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli attack. Nearly two million people, or 90% of the population, were displaced, according to the United Nations.
