Liverpool are still chasing the quadruple, although Wednesday evening's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the first leg of the UEFA Cup semi-final makes life more difficult.

Arne Slott's men face two away games after Accrington, at Nottingham Forest and Brentford, and the Dutchman will likely have his eye on that when he announces his squad.

Team news

Liverpool are likely to make wholesale changes although the depth of their squad means it will remain a strong starting XI.

The likes of Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo are likely to start with Slott also considering those who were left out against Tottenham.

Dominik Szoboszlai could return after illness although Jarel Quansah is a doubt following his early withdrawal in midweek.

Accrington will return to full strength with no casualties reported from the camp.

Expected formations

Liverpool: Kelleher, Bradley, Endou, Konate, Tsimikas, Elliott, Nyony, Morton, Chiesa, Dance, Nunez.

Accrington: Crellin, Rawson, Love, Owe, Walton, B Woods, Khombini, Connelly, Whalley, Hunter, G Woods.

prediction

To the surprise of no one, we would win at home, although it may take a while for Liverpool's second series to come together.

In true cup style, Accrington will fight hard and give a good account of themselves, but it will be the quality of the home team that will shine through in the end.

Liverpool 3-0 Accrington
