Arsenal's interest in Benjamin Sisko's transfer It's no secret, according to Charles Watts, but no offer has been made yet.
Speaking exclusively to Caught out In his latest Daily Briefing column, Watts explained that the Gunners remain keen on Cisco and are also holding behind-the-scenes talks about strengthening the attacking line.
However, Watts is under no illusions that a deal to bring Cisco in January looks too difficult as RB Leipzig are unwilling to sell their star forward mid-season.
This may be a deal that will have to wait until the summer, but Arsenal could also look at other options for January, with Watts suggesting internal discussions are taking place to resolve the issue.
Arsenal certainly cannot continue without signing another attacking player, with Mikel Arteta sending very clear messages to the club on this matter in his recent press conferences.
Benjamin Sisko's transfer looks to be a tough one for Arsenal, but talks are continuing
“Arsenal want Benjamin Cisco. “It's not a secret, everyone knows it,” Watts said.
“We knew it in the summer and we still know it now. But obviously wanting it and having it are two completely different things.
“RB Leipzig do not want to lose their main striker in the middle of the season when they are competing for a place in the Champions League. Marco Rose made this clear in his press conference on Friday.
“So it would take a very big offer to tempt them into doing business. Arsenal know that and so far they have not made any offer of any kind.
“I can't say for sure whether they will do that or not in the next few days. Talks are continuing behind the scenes as they look for solutions to the injury issues in the attack.
Watts added that he feels Arsenal's lack of action in the market so far has been a mistake, and believes Arteta knows that too.
“The lack of movement in the market has really hurt them and you can see now that Arteta is publicly asking for help in almost every press conference he gives,” Watts said.
“He must be saying something similar behind closed doors, but nothing has materialized so far. Delay seems very costly.”
