former New York Jets Head coach Rex Ryan expressed hope that he will get a chance to face Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots during the 2025 season.

Ryan responded to ESPN on Patriots decision Vrabel was named coach of the team on Sunday. This came one week after New England fired Jerrod Mayo.

“Hopefully I can kick this guy twice a year,” he said with a smile.

Ryan interviewed to be the Jets' head coach and suggested he was the favorite to get the job. He will replace Robert Saleh, who was fired midway through the season, and interim coach Jeff Ulbrich, who replaced Saleh.

“The reason I think I'll get it is because I'm the best person for it. It's not even close,” he said. Via ESPN. “The thing you have to do is, you have to communicate with your football team, you have to communicate with your fan base. The way they play, that's the most important thing. It's not just Xs and Os and all that.”

Aside from showing his confidence, Ryan Even offered a pitch – A goal directly targeting midfielder Aaron Rodgers.

“Obviously when you have a player who doesn't show up to mandatory minicamp — and he's your quarterback, by the way, after he got injured — I think that's a completely ridiculous message that you're sending to the team,” Ryan said. Rodgers lost a mandatory minicamp over the summer on a trip to Egypt.

“If he came back, things would be different. If he came back, it wouldn't be the country club. He'd show up any time you wanted to show up. That's not going to happen. I'll leave it where it is.” “Which.”

Ryan was 46-50 years old as the Jets' head coach and most recently led the Jets to the playoffs.
