West Ham signed for striker Ivan Ferguson on loan from Brighton until the end of the season.
Brighton receives large loan fees for the player and will cover West Ham. There is no option or commitment to West Ham to sign Ferguson listed in the deal.
Ferguson completed his medical medical on Sunday and re -entered it with Graham Potter, who gave him the first time in Brighton.
“I am happy that we were able to bring Evan on loan until the end of the season,” Potter said. “He is a player we know very well, so I am grateful to the council to bring him.
“He has received a lot of quality features as a striker we believe will benefit the group for the coming months. We are excited to integrate it into the team and see it at work in the coming weeks.”
Ferguson, 20, has returned from the last 17 minutes of Brighton's 7-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, his first appearance in six weeks.
“It is good to be here. Seeing the stadium and being here today, I felt very good,” said Ferguson.
“I can see and know how big West Ham United is. It was a great opportunity for me to come here. I know Gaffer well and I look forward to working under it again. I want to come and do my best to the club, score goals, and look where we get.”
Speculation began to appear at the beginning of the transfer window that Ferguson could leave on loan amid links with Fulham, but Brighton has not yet decided whether they would allow him to leave.
This was partially due to Danny Welbeck's injury and the fact that Ferguson was carrying ways. However, Welbeck is now decent and it seems that Ferguson is lagging behind who is Joao Pedro to get a place in the middle.
Ferguson was out of the picture for a period of time and a player who was once linked to big clubs to get huge money, now he needed regular games – which seem to be a current possibility during the era of Fabian Herzeller – to return him to a level.
Tottenham and Bournemouth were nominated for Fergson, while Chelsea was watching developments. Everton also cared, but he was aware that the other clubs were on the waiting list.
