England winger Emmanuel Feyi-Wabuso will miss the entire Six Nations tournament due to a dislocated shoulder sustained while on duty with Exeter last month.

The PA news agency understands that Faye-Waboso will undergo surgery on the joint damaged against Sale on December 21, which will keep him out of action for approximately three months.

The 22-year-old is one of England's most dangerous players having scored an average of five tries in eight matches and, if fit, could have been automatically selected for the Six Nations opener against Ireland on February 1.

Aside from the setback to Steve Borthwick's hopes of overseeing a Championship revival after a dismal autumn, Feyi-Waboso has been denied the most important stage of all to press his claim to selection for the British and Irish Lions.

Andy Farrell takes the Lions to Australia this summer and the Chiefs player has been the favorite for one of the back three positions due to his impact since making his debut in the Six Nations Test last year.

He was also forced to miss the matches against South Africa and Japan in November after suffering a concussion against Australia.

His absence strains England's three-man resources, with George Furbank likely to miss the start of the tournament with a broken arm.

Ollie Slitholme and Tom Roebuck will compete to fill the vacant position on the wing, although the former limped off in Northampton's win over Bath on Sunday.

Borthwick names his squad for next Tuesday's Six Nations Championship, with the head coach needing to turn around England's fortunes as scrutiny grows on his position after a disappointing 2024.
