After booking the role Reba McEntireAli's daughter Happy place, Emma Kenny She did not receive support – and meaningful advice – from her shameless com. costar Steve Howe.
“I was so excited to be a part of it Happy place And working with Reba. I worked with Steve Howie for a long time, who also worked with Reba for a long time. “So, I called him,” Kenny, 25, said exclusively. Us Weekly. “He had nothing but amazing things to say about her and he wasn't wrong.”
Kenny I had such a great time. Working with McIntyre, 69, who previously shared the screen with Howey, 47, on Reba Sitcom. “She has a kind, generous, welcoming energy, which is very special when you join an already well-known staff to feel that,” Kenny noted. “So I was very lucky to get that.”
After sharing the screen with McIntyre, Howey went on to star alongside Kenny on Showtime's hit series Shameless. Howie returned to his roots With a guest role Happy place Earlier this season, which paved the way for Possible on-screen reunion Between him and Kenny.
“I would love to be back on set with Steve. He's one of my favorite people and the funniest person,” the actress gushed we. “He's definitely kind of an uncle figure to me. And I would love to do scenes with him and Reba. That would be a lot of fun, honestly.”
For now, Kenny is celebrating the opportunity to do just that He dealt with McIntyre after he was brought in Gracie's role in life in the Friday, January 10 episode of NBC's newest sitcom.
“I definitely felt a huge responsibility coming into this project and playing Reba's daughter. She's an icon and an established performer,” Kenny continued. “The show had already aired a few episodes when I started filming. Obviously I watched what I could and tried to prepare in that sense. “I definitely wanted to come in and try to bring some honor to her daughter’s character.”
Part of Kenny's preparations It means developing her own point of view On personality.
“It's very tough and it doesn't make any sense at all. Gracie certainly has a lot of resilience and I would say determination. “But I definitely wanted to give her some heart and I wanted the audience to be able to see why she has this tough exterior.”
“I always analyze the character I write,” Kenny continued. Sometimes I'll choose a zodiac sign for a character, as weird as that may seem. It gives me a little bit of perspective on this character. I chose Gracie as a Capricorn. “It felt like it made sense to her.”
While Kinney would love to reprise her role as Gracie, she would also love the opportunity to reunite with her previous cast – Including her shameless family.
“I miss working with all of them. It's always a sad and perhaps nostalgic feeling when you wrap up a show you've done for years because it probably won't be the exact same cast. Despite doing Conners (on ABC) gave me hope. “Meaning they literally brought back the entire crew from their original show from the '80s and '90s. But I've been really lucky to work with these amazing people who I've formed really strong bonds with. I'd love to be on set with any of them again.”
