Errol Musk, father of billionaire Elon Musk, has suggested that his son might be interested in taking over Liverpool Football Club.

Speaking to Times Radio, Musk Sr revealed the family's connection to the city and shared insights into the tech genius' potential interest in the Premier League leaders.

Musk Sr. explained the family's historical ties to Liverpool, as Elon's paternal grandmother, Cora Amelia Robinson, was born there before moving to South Africa.

“He wants to (buy Liverpool), yes, obviously,” Musk Sr said. “Anyone wants it – so do I!

“His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool. We were lucky to know a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family.

“So, we're linked to Liverpool, you know…”

While discussing the idea of a purchase, Musk Sr. expressed concerns that Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the current owner of Liverpool, might raise the price if they knew of Elon Musk's interest.

This is not the first time that Musk's name has been associated with owning a football club. In 2022, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX caused a stir on social media when he tweeted that he was buying Manchester United.

“I'm buying the Manchester United welcome,” Musk posted, sparking a frenzy among fans.

The tweet quickly collected tens of thousands of retweets and more than 200,000 likes. However, he later clarified it was a joke, responding to a comment on the original post saying: “No, this is a long running Twitter joke. I don't buy any sports teams. Although if there was any team, it would be Manchester United. They were my favorite team when I was a kid.

“And I'm not buying Coca-Cola to bring cocaine back, despite the popularity of such a move.”

While Errol Musk's statements reignited speculation about Elon Musk's entry into the world of football ownership, the billionaire did not confirm any plans to buy Liverpool FC.

Fans will no doubt be watching closely to see if the Tesla CEO makes a serious move to expand his empire into the Premier League.
