Liverpool have reportedly made direct contact about a potential transfer Bayern Munich star, Joshua Kimmich As a possible replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The experienced German international is approaching the end of his contract with his current club. Just like Alexander-Arnold is with Liverpool.

So it makes sense that their futures are linked, as Sascha Tavoleri wrote in his latest column sky About Kimmich being targeted by Liverpool to replace Alexander-Arnold if he ends up leaving for free in the summer.

Liverpool could offload their latest signing in a stunning swap deal!

Kimmich usually operates in midfield, but he has also shown throughout his career that he can be versatile and perform well in a variety of roles, so right-back could be a good option for him.

However, it seems risky to replace a very important player like Alexander-Arnold with someone who does not usually play in the same position in most matches.

Who should Liverpool sign as a right-back?

Liverpool also like Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremy Frimpongso this could be something to watch, although Kimmich of course makes sense as a tempting option given his proximity to becoming a free agent.

The 29-year-old is sure to have other big name options in the near future, so Liverpool might do well to move quickly for him if they don't want to miss out.

However, it is also not wise to move purely on market opportunities, and many fans will feel that someone like Frimpong, or another more natural right-back, would be the better option, even if it means paying more.

Liverpool fans will likely often feel the best option would be to keep Alexander-Arnold, but this apparent approach to Kimmich may once again signal that they will struggle to prevent the England international from leaving at the end of his contract this summer.
