Former coach Teddy Atlas says that he noticed some tactics that David Benefidies got rid of by using David Morel, which may not have been allowed with other referees working in their battle last Saturday night.
I noticed these two skeptical benavidez tactics:
- Rum behind the ear
- Morar's goalkeeper pulled with his left hand and beaten.
The fighters can knock the guard down and tattooing, but they are not supposed to pull him down. Benavidez was doing the latter. He was carrying one of Morel's arms down while he was putting it with others. The ruling should have been noticed that tactics, warning, or punishing beenavidez.
Punches behind the head
Beating behind the head is illegal and is supposed to be warned and punished by their ruling. The Atlas is called “the ear hit”, but it looked like a punching to the back of the head, which Benavides used against Morel.
The rabbit punch is supposed to warn, but rulers often ignore them or fail to note. They focus more on stopping low strikes, which is interesting, given that the beating behind the head is more dangerous.
There were cases of Benavidez-Morrell, which resembled the textbooks of the rabbit from Benavidez, but nothing was said. It was strange. Was the result different if the Benavides referee was prevented from using these tactics? Maybe not, but we will never know.
