Devin Haney revealed today that he will return to action in March after sitting out 11 months. Haney (31-0, 15 KO) isn't saying who his opponent will be, but it won't be Ryan Garcia. His suspension expires in April.

Whoever Hani chooses will test his chin. They will try to follow Garcia's scheme, hoping to replicate his success and not be sued.

Back March

Fans want to see Haney either fight Garcia or one of the top 140 pounders, like Alberto Puello, Teofimo Lopez, Sandor Martin, and Rolly Romero. It's unlikely Devin will fight any of these guys because he's been out of the ring for so long, he needs to get his bearings. He has to do it, but it's hard to predict what his father, Bill Haney, wants him to do.

With the beating that Haney took against Kingery in his three knockout loss, he will have to take it slow by fighting a weak player before facing someone with strength.

Haney wasted nearly a year of his career after losing a 12-round majority decision to Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) on April 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Devin subsequently sued Ryan over his positive test for the PED Ostarine. The lawsuit is still out.

It will be interesting to see who Hani picks because if he's just an average fighter, he won't get a huge payday unless Turki Al Sheikh chooses to put him on one of his cards. There are a lot of fringe contenders Devin could fight at 140 and 135, which would be perfect for him.

Haney has been looking slim in training photos, suggesting he may consider returning to the number 135 to make life easier. He doesn't have to worry about fighting at lightweight compared to light welterweight or 147.

To be precise, George Kambosos Jr. would be perfect if Devin hadn't already beaten “The Little Emperor” twice already. He won't be a threat to his chin and hit him for 12 shots from one side.
