In Star Wars, Darth Vader is generally believed to be one of the most dangerous threats in the galaxy… In addition to his mystical powers that allow him to kill anyone who opposes him, the Sith Lord has a reputation as the fierce warrior who helped eliminate the Jedi. However, long defunct Star Wars galaxies The MMORPG added a new twist to Anakin Skywalker's story that even the biggest fans couldn't have predicted. According to that game, Darth Vader accidentally saved the galaxy by killing Separatist scientists who were about to unleash a new droid army powered by HK-47 assassin droid technology.
HK-47 is the key to all of this
The story of Darth Vader accidentally saving the galaxy requires us to go back a long way… specifically to the beloved 2003 RPG Knights of the Old Republic. That game introduced HK-47, a fan-favorite robot who loves nothing more than killing humans and Aliens who oppose him (to this death-loving robot, all biological entities are merely “bags of meat”). Later, HK-47 was returned back to Obi-Wan Trials The expansion that added the planet Mustafar and over 50 missions to the classic MMORPG Star Wars galaxies.
What does this have to do with Darth Vader Save the galaxy, though? Before arriving on Mustafar to fight his epic battle with his former mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars galaxies He confirms that Separatist scientists discovered the remains of HK-47 and were horrified and impressed by the robot's ability to kill everything (both robotic and organic) that stood in its way when it was reactivated. By subjugating the droid's mind (they were unable to successfully erase his memory), scientists stole his skeleton and developed the HK-77 droid that was more advanced than anything the Jedi from the Prequels had ever encountered.
These same scientists were preparing to mass produce these most advanced robots, and perhaps it would be enough to turn the tide of the Clone Wars, allowing the Separatists to defeat the Old Republic once and for all. However, the fate of these Separatists was sealed once Palpatine told young Anakin Skywalker that the leaders of the Confederacy of Independent Systems were hiding on Mustafar. Now christened Darth Vader, the enraged warrior slaughtered these leaders before fighting Obi-Wan Kenobi, effectively shutting down HK-77 production and effectively saving the galaxy.
Galaxy gold
Unfortunately, Star Wars galaxies It closed many years ago and has been there ever since Disney franchise, all of these old tales were removed from the canon and relegated to Legends status. This means that the tale of Darth Vader accidentally saving everyone's favorite galaxy far, far away is no longer an “official” part of the Star Wars story, nor is the story of HK-47's body being found on Mustafar.
However, the robot itself may have made its way back into the official canon… at least, from a certain point of view. In Chuck Wendig's book Consequences: The End of the Empirethe robot character Mr. Bones glitches at one point and says “Commentary: I say we blow up the bag of meat and save you the trouble, sir.” This is it echo As to how HK-47 occurs in the Knights of the Old Republic games, though it's up to fans' interpretation whether this is just an Easter egg or confirmation that the robot assassin's programming officially lives on thousands of years later.
For Star Wars fans tired of the Disney era and the failures of the Sequel Trilogy, the story of Darth Vader accidentally saving the galaxy is a nice throwback to the days of the Expanded Universe. In that time, talented writers have found increasingly creative ways to bring our favorite characters and stories together. However, these days, we have to accept the admiration when Disney manages to produce a single series (Hey, you, Skeleton crew) who manages not to make the bed, and that makes this bag of meat endlessly sad Years Of the creative potential lost to the most popular sci-fi franchise.
